Beware Of Sharks! Byron Young Will Pitch CordaRoys On ABC’s “Shark Tank”
Early next month, reality TV fans will get to watch Byron Young unzip a CordaRoys beanbag chair, pull out the mattress inside, and flip the mattress over two or three times, until a plush, comfy bed is left lying on the floor.
That’s a CordaRoys product demonstration Byron has done countless times. This one, though, will be different. Byron won’t be flipping the mattress just to sell a beanbag or two – it will be part of the pitch of his concept, his company, and himself to a panel of savvy, no-nonsense investors, on national television.
You got it, CordaRoys lovers and “Shark Tank” fans: watch Byron Young and CordaRoys on “Shark Tank” on Friday, March 8, 2013, 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET, on the ABC Television Network.
If you are new to “Shark Tank”, here’s how the show works. Entrepreneurs like Byron bring their invention, product, or service before the sharks - five real-life, uber-rich business people ready to invest their own money, if the idea is promising enough – and make a brief pitch to the sharks about why their company is ready to take off.
What makes “Shark Tank” the most-watched TV show on Friday nights, and a consistent high performer in Nielsen’s ratings, is what happens next. The sharks grill the entrepreneur, rapid-fire, on everything from sales history to marketing strategy to the entrepreneur’s own commitment and passion for the business. Then, counter-offers from the sharks to the original proposal begin – or, they don’t. Some episodes, a deal is made between one (or more) of the sharks and the entrepreneur; other episodes have all five investors declaring, “I’m out!”
Pity the entrepreneur who jumps into these treacherous waters with a gimmicky, unmarketable, or copycat product, or worse, with no true command of the numbers his or her business generates. The sharks on this show routinely devour the weak and unprepared, tearing business plans to shreds and deflating hard-working dreamers in minutes.
Will Byron Young and CordaRoys sink or swim in the “Shark Tank”? Watch on March 8 to find out. A couple of factors seem to favor Byron’s chances of sealing a deal with a shark. One, CordaRoys brings a patented, unique, and market-proven product, manufactured since 1998, to the sharks for scrutiny.
And two, CordaRoys’ marketing partners at Tampa-based Marketing In Color are big “Shark Tank” fans. To become one of the 125 entrepreneurs to actually appear in a “Shark Tank” episode in a season, culled from 40,000 who try out, you must set yourself apart from the herd. That means knowing how to market yourself not just to the sharks, but first to the staff at ABC who produce the show and screen prospects.
Marketing In Color coached Byron on his presence in front of the camera – MIC offers video production among its array of services. And having seen plenty of unprepared entrepreneurs get savaged by the sharks, MIC drilled Byron on his financials. What’s your cost of acquiring a customer? Tell us about your distribution. Two “watch parties” to celebrate CordaRoys’ appearance on Shark Tank are scheduled for Friday, March 8. In Gainesville, FL, Byron will host a party at Cymplify Coffee Shop. And in Tampa, Marketing In Color welcomes fans and friends to Beef O’Brady’s. Both parties run from 8:00-10:00 p.m.
